Thomas Pennington (1734-1802) married Margaret Carter (1725-1798), sister of Elizabeth Carter, in 1755. They had four sons: John Carter Pennington (1756-1761), James Pennington (1757-1778), Thomas Pennington (1761-1852) and Montagu Pennington (1762-1849). He was Rector of Tunstall in Kent, a living bestowed on him in 1766 by Archbishop Secker. The family lived at Eastrey in Kent.
