George Savile (1726-1784), 8th Baronet Savile, was the son of Sir George Savile, 7th Baronet, and Mary Pratt. He was one of the Whig faction of the Marquess of Rockingham, and was best known for introducing into the House of Commons in February 1778 a bill for Catholic toleration that was strongly supported by Edmund Burke, John Wilkes and Charles James Fox, but was one of the triggers for the Gordon Riots associated with Lord George Gordon.
