William Gregory (1744-1803) was the son of Dr John Gregory. He became one of the six Preachers of Canterbury Cathedral, and rector of St Mary Bredman in Great Witcombe with Bentham, Gloucestershire with St Andrew’s Canterbury. In 1787, he married Catherine Sayer, 2nd daughter of the late George Sayer esq., of Pett. See William Smellie, Literary and Characteristical Lives of John Gregory, M.d.
