Richard Trevor (1707-1771) was Bishop of Durham from 1752 until his death. In 1756 he purchased thirteen paintings by Francisco de Zurbarán depicting the Biblical patriarch Jacob and twelve of his sons, and displayed them in Auckland Castle, where they can be seen today.
