George Monck Berkeley (1763-1793) was the son of Rev George Berkeley and Elizabeth Frinsham. He was a precocious student, attending King’s School, Canterbury, Eton College, St Andrew’s University and Magdalen Hall, Oxford. He was known as a playwright and author, and wrote an acclaimed biography of Jonathan Swift. He went to Dover for the sake of his health and died in Cheltenham at the age of thirty.
