Eldest surviving daughter of Rev John Botham (1710-1773). Her mother, Lydia Lumley (1713-1753), was Elizabeth Montagu’s cousin. On Lydia’s death, Montagu took charge of her and placed her in a boarding school. She married Rev. Samuel Horsley (1733-1806).
