Henry (“Harry”) Carter (1739-1813) was Elizabeth Carter’s youngest brother, the son of her father’s second wife. Carter coached him in Latin for his Oxford entrance examinations. He took holy orders and was for fifty years the rector of Little Wittenham in Berkshire. He married Anna Wilhelmina Benjamin and they had nine children.
