Juliana Fermor (1729-1801) was one of the six daughters of Sir Thomas Fermor. In 1751 she married Thomas Penn, son of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, who was almost thirty years older. They lived at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire and had eight children, four of whom did not survive infancy. Thomas Penn suffered declining health and died in 1775: Lady Juliana continued to take an active interest in the affairs of Pennsylvania, and corresponded with Governor John Penn and, during the American Revolutionary War, with John Adams and other American leaders. She died in 1801 at the age of seventy-two, at her house in Surrey.
