Gender: M

Pierre François le Courayer (1681 – 17 October 1776) was a French Catholic theological writer. He was criticised by French clergy as he suggested that the English clergy had legitimate claim to apostolic succession. His contact with the English ministry meant that he could take refuge in England in 1728. He became a favourite of Queen Anne and received an annuity from the government. Le Courayer met Montagu in around 1742 who called him ‘little père’. Other members of the Bluestockings also welcomed him such as Mary Delany.
