Richard Watson (1737-1816) was Bishop of Llandaff from 1782-1816. He was appointed Regius Professor of Divinity at Cambridge in 1771, and published a number of works of religious apologetics. In 1780 he preached a sermon in Cambridge on the day before an appointed general fast, which attracted a response by William Vincent, Dean of Westminster and headmaster of Westminster School, entitled A Letter to the Reverend Dr Richard Watson, King’s Professor of Divinity in the University of Cambridge.
