(b. 1740, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States – d. April 14, 1826, Stanhope Street, Mayfair, London )

Gender: F

Philadelphia Hannah Freame (1747-1826) was the daughter of Thomas Freame of Philadelphia and his wife Margaret, who was the daughter of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania. In 1770 she married Thomas Dawson, Earl of Dartrey, whose first wife Anne Fermor had died in 1769. Their son, Thomas (Viscount Cremorne from 1785), died aged sixteen on 9 October 1787. She was referred to as Lady Dartrey from 1770-1785, and as Lady Cremorne thereafter. Montagu Pennington dedicated his Memoirs of the life of Mrs Elizabeth Carter (London: F.C. & J. Rivington, 1807) to her, and said she was closer to her than anyone who was not a member of her family.
