Charles Pratt (1714-1794) was a senior lawyer, judge and Whig politician. He was successively Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, Attorney-General and Lord Chancellor. He became the 1st Earl Camden in 1786. He served in the cabinet for fifteen years, under five different prime ministers. His wife was Elizabeth Jeffreys (c1725-1779), daughter of Nicholas Jeffreys of the Priory, Brecknock; they had one son and three daughters. Employed Augustine Greenland and Morris Robinson as his attorneys.
