Louis Philippe (12th May 1725-18th November 1785), Duke of Orléans, was Regent of France during the minority of his great-nephew Louis XV. His second wife, the widowed Marquise de Montesson, whom he married in 1773, was not in fact the Duchess, since the King refused to permit her to use the title. His son, Louis Philippe, had married the daughter of the Duke of Penthièvre.
