Francis Carr Clerke (1748-1777), 7th Baronet Clerke, was aide-de-camp to General John Burgoyne, and died of wounds following the Battle of Saratoga. His Adjutant-General described him as “an impetuous, high-minded, frank, fearless fellow”.
