Dr Daniel Sutton of Ingatestone, Essex, son of Dr Robert Sutton of Suffolk. Daniel Sutton improved on the method of smallpox inoculation used by his father and shortened the time needed for recovery from treatment. His services were widely used by English society, and he also inoculated King Louis XV of France.
